In 2006, Habbeké Shipyard was approached by the KRVE “De Roeiers” of Rotterdam who were looking for a wharf to help develop and build a new and dependable boat for their activities. The KRVE have a long history of using rapid vessels, but few have been entirely satisfactory for their needs and so they decided to try to develop a new boat to fit their needs.

Philosophy
Highly trained workers, all of whom have years of education and experience in the Dutch Metal Industry, staff the company; in fact most of the staff have been with the company for 25 or more years. At the same time, everyone at Habbeké has a direct affinity with boats, large and small, and this combination produces one of the best teams of its size in Europe – building vessels of varied shapes and sizes.

Fendering
One of the challenges which the Crewtender looked to overcome was the apparent fragility of the tubes traditionally built for this sort of vessel. Gerrit van de Burg of the KRVE points out that each tender makes something in the region of 100 controlled collisions per day as it delivers or collects pilots and other crew members.
